Tacoma Buddhist Temple - Social Hall, 1717 Fawcett Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402, USA

About the event

MIND - play some simple drumming patterns BODY - how we use our whole body with drumming and movement SPIRIT - the energy and attitude we bring and put out through drumming. The connection with others.

The workshop will be drumming, vocalization and games that promote community building. It will be led by players from the temple's two taiko organizations: Wendy Hamai (Issho Open Taiko), and Donna Sasaki and Karen Yoshitomi (Fuji Taiko).

Who can attend? Anyone of wants to play around with a taiko and have fun learning of our minds, bodies and spirit are part of it! Children should be old enough to be able to take instruction and play a drum without a parent assisting. For very young age children, there will be some light hand drums available that a parent could use to assist them on the side. There is no older age limit. For those who might have difficulty standing for more than 20 minutes, drums can be played sitting.

Registration: sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in foyer or email Wendy Hamai, wfhamai@rainierconnect.com.

Deadline: Nov 2
