About the event
Symbol of Mindfulness
The o-nenju serves as a sacred ritual implement (hōgu) and a physical reminder of the Buddha's wisdom and compassion.
Symbol of Oneness
When held during gasshō (joining palms), the loop encircles both hands to symbolize the oneness of the Buddha and the practitioner.
An onenju (also called juzu) is a traditional Japanese Buddhist prayer bead strand.
Instructors: Tracy Ling and Donna Sasaki are both long time members of the Tacoma Buddhist Temple. They have studied the significance of the onenju and what the beads represent. Each participant will learn to string and create your own onenju. Supplies will be provided.
