Temple Reorganization Committee explains the purpose of its work
Reorganization Committee - Introduction
The Reorganization Committee will be presenting four installments in
the Myokyo that describe why we are re-examining our Temple’s
governance structure, what changes we are proposing, and how we plan to
implement these changes.
In this first installment we will present an overview of the reasons
behind our re-examination of the Temple’s governance structure, our
goals, and how to achieve them. After more than a few rounds of
discussion we identified the following:
Issues:
o Lack of interest in Temple leadership positions
o Lack of fairness in Temple officer election process
o Lack of documented job descriptions and processes
o Aging/non-participating Board membership
Goals:
o Increased participation in Temple leadership activities
o Fair and equitable board and board officer election process
o Defined and documented job descriptions and procedures
o Active and involved Temple and board members
Recommendations:
o Restructure Board of Directors and Board officers
o Create committees to share responsibilities of Temple operations
o Provide clear, written description of committee and board officer’s duties and responsibilities.
In the next installment we will present our recommendations for restructuring the Board.
Again, if you have any questions, comments or other input, please don't
