2008 Northwest Buddhist Convention

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR FROG IS TONIGHT?

Dear Sangha,
Do you know where your frog is tonight, the one your temple received following the 2007 NW District Convention? If not, it’s time to head for your local ponds in hopes of finding it in time to take pictures for submission to the Seattle Betsuin Convention Planning Committee. Your frog will become part of Northwest temple history by way of a frog PowerPoint presentation to be shown at the 2008 Convention. The Seattle Betsuin frog has been spotted having his picture taken at Bon Odori, and it’s not too late to catch yours participating in its favorite temple activities.

Once you’ve found your frog, don’t wait for the kiss of a princess to awaken it. Instead, help it Come Home to the Nembutsu from February 15 – 17, 2008, at the Double Tree Guest Suites, Tukwila. And hop on over to this inspirational event yourselves. The guest speaker will be Rev Midori Kondo, Lihue Hongwanji Mission; and the guest minister will be Rev Dean Koyama, Mt. View Temple. Special workshops are being planned for calligraphy and okesa-making, along with sessions by Rev. Don Castro, Rev. Gregory Gibbs, Rev. Dennis Fujimoto, Rinban Matsubayashi, Rev. Nakagawa, Rev. Fukuma and Rev. Kondo. A full program for junior and senior YBA members is also being planned.

Your temple will receive registration material in early December, plenty of time to turn everything in by the December 30 deadline. If you have any questions before then, contact Joan Nakano cjnakano@comcast.net or Joyce Kato katojh@earthlink.net
